Flames [16 Apr 2008|09:44pm]

They made him sit in the closet, in the dark. He hurt all over, but knew better than to groan, or make any noise at all. Tears rolled down his round cheeks--he scrubbed them angrily away. It was babyish to cry and besides, no one cared….

He flicked the lighter he'd found in a coat pocket on and off, on and off. He watched the flame dance and swore that he'd never hurt *his* kids like this. One day, he'd make them wish they'd been nice to him. The whole *world* was going to be nice to Lionel Luthor.

Fiction: Dance, Little Baby (Clark/Lex G) [11 Apr 2008|02:19am]

I know it's late but I'm sneaking it in anyway. :)

Lex watched silently from the shadows, a soft smile on his face. In the center of the nursery Clark danced with Conner, humming a tune from his own childhood as he held him close.

He marveled at Clark's hands, made even larger when compared to their small son. Leashed power that could crush diamonds into dust, held their son with such gentle grace as they spun in lazy circles in the air.

Lex loved them both, his miracles. One day their son may ride the wind, just like his daddy. Until that day came, though, Clark would give him wings.

Here was the inspiration for my drabble, will only minor alterations:

Dance, Little Baby
Dance, little Baby, dance up high!
Never mind, Baby, Daddy is by.
Crow and caper, caper and crow,
There, little Baby, there you go!
Up to the ceiling, down to the ground,
Backwards and forwards, round and round;
Dance, little Baby and Daddy will sing,
With the merry coral, ding, ding, ding!

3 drabblies [10 Apr 2008|03:36pm]

[ mood | geeky ]

The hardest part of watching their wedding was not that Clark wanted Lana. She had never truly been his. She had always had Whitney, and then they always had his secrets between them. The hardest part was losing Lex, who had always been his, even in anger.

And Lana was hard on him -- Lex was no saint -- because he didn't belong to her either. She didn't know his intricacies. She didn't know the differences of his agitation and jubilation. How much pressure to apply and how to reign him in.

She returned Lex to him, broken, worn out, and resentful of any bridle Clark tried. Maybe sugar cubes would help.

I had a little pony,
His name was Dapple-Grey,
I lent him to a lady,
To ride a mile away.
She whipped him, she slashed him,
She rode him through the mire;
I would not lend my pony now
For all the lady's hire

A Cock And Bull Story [10 Apr 2008|02:08pm]

[ mood | mischievous ]

Clark eyed the black clad mourners around him, wondering if they knew.

Had they known the truth he was sure there would be revulsion and disgust from every side. He didn’t think he could take that, but all he saw were honest expressions of grief, even as they all wondered how his father could die so horribly.

Thanks to Lex, no one else would ever know the whole story. Not even Martha.

It was Jonathan’s own bad luck that his high alcohol content mixed with the moonless night caused him to – visit – the new *bull* rather than the new cow.

A/N: I didn't read the nursery rhyme, I just went by the title. Cuz I'm a rebel that way. And at work so I'm trying to be fast and sneaky...

A Cherry [10 Apr 2008|09:19am]

"The riddle's about sex."

Clark stared at Lex. "I know your parents never told you any rhymes and riddles when you were little, but I don't think you understand them," Clark stammered.

"I understand them just fine. The garden gap refers to the gap between the legs. Dick Redcap is an obvious euphemism for an erect penis. A stick in the hand is masturbation. A stone in his throat – oral sex."

"It's supposed to be a cherry!" Clark shouted.

Lex hid his smile as he sipped from his bottle of water and watched young, innocent Clark blush furiously.

Cherry, indeed.

Prompt - A Cherry

As I went through the garden gap,
Who should I meet but Dick Redcap!
A stick in his hand, a stone in his throat,—
If you'll tell me this riddle, I'll give you a groat.

Teeth and Gums [09 Apr 2008|11:11pm]

Clark has a red toothbrush. It's a plain, ordinary brush with straight, white bristles.

Lex has a state-of-the-art oral care system. Taking up as much counter space as a toaster, it has attachments, chargers and a wireless display. It talks.

Clark feels both normal and special when he goes to the dentist. The hygienists love him and he never has cavities.

Lex feels patronized when the dentist suggests he drink less. Even though he's had to get two fillings in the past year.

They share toothpaste. Lex insists it be squeezed from the bottom.

Clark squeezes from the middle anyway.

"Thirty white horses upon a red hill,
Now they tramp, now they champ, now they stand still."

Lengthening Days [09 Apr 2008|04:14pm]

Lengthening Days

They'd met in the fall. For a while, basking in bright, sunny smiles, Lex had forgotten it was fall. But the light in the smiles had faded, to be replaced by wintry, guarded looks until Lex could no longer remember how it felt to be warm. But he'd survived it. He'd sprung past barriers of morals and laws that had kept him buried. Kept him from growing into the great man he was destined to become.

Soon, summer would be here and Lex would be at the top of his form. No one could oppose him then. Not even Clark.

Rhyme used as the prompt -

Lengthening Days

As the days grow longer
The storms grow stronger.

If all the seas were one sea [09 Apr 2008|02:48pm]

[ mood | contemplative ]

Lex doesn’t have access to a piano, except in music class. So he sketches in his notebook instead. Now he skulks at a large wooden table in a corner of the vast school library. His pencil etches out waves, waves of corn that rustle like an endless sea. Sometimes, when he lets his mind wander, he remembers young, green-blue eyes, the color of a real sea. He doesn’t know where the image comes from, but it’s so far from this world he’s in now, of gossip and unspoken judgment. He’d rather stay with those eyes the color of the sea.

Rhyme: Multiplication is Vexation [09 Apr 2008|01:47pm]

"Lex…" Superman looked from one set of ice blue eyes to another. And another, and another "…what happened?"

"Um. It *was* an attempt to create a little help, for my affairs, for you…"

"But Lex, this is really insane--this is *mad scientist* insane."

The dozens of Lexes babbled and gesticulated, offering advice, creating chaos. "That hurt, Clark. Anyway I was supposed to have a singular copy, not…a chorus line."

"This is…"

"Extremely vexing, yes." Lex pushed a button and the Lexes disappeared—including the button pusher

The lone Lex left stared at a horrified Clark from across the laboratory.

I picked the title, wrote the drabble, and then read the rhyme--not a bad fit, hunh?

Multiplication is Vexation

Multiplication is vexation,
Division is as bad;
Rule of Three doth puzzle me,
And Practice drives me mad.

Sorry, sorry! I know I'm late! [03 Apr 2008|09:39am]

[ mood | amused ]

Losing his first husband in the accident had been the worst moment of Clark's life, but the unyielding passage of time numbed the pain. Unwilling to face the future alone, he eventually agreed to marry Bruce.

Clark retired to bed early following the ceremony, exhausted by stress and more than a little heartsick for Lex, hoping that Bruce would understand. The shower in the master bath awoke Clark the following morning, and he reluctantly entered the bathroom to face his husband.

Though the air was steamy, he could clearly see Lex smiling lovingly at him from the shower.

"Good morning!"

(Apologies to anyone not old enough to remember Dallas, because this makes no sense without that particular crack-fest.)

Regaining Consciousness [02 Apr 2008|10:58pm]

Jonathan floats, heavy like a storm at first, but breaks through the surface, weightless.

Murky, murmured voices purify into bells with low, lulling tones.

His eyes crack open, snow-blind, upon a vision too gauzy and bright.

Clark is there, an angel in the morning sun, his expression wavering between doubt and hope.

"Good to have you back, Mr. Kent."

Lex, his hand in Clark's and close to his side, not at all the devil he remembers.

"We ...have something to tell you,"

He'll get through this; he has to.

As long as it's one heart attack at a time.

Lex's inner superhero awakens [02 Apr 2008|08:20pm]

[ mood | giggly ]

Lex had always wanted to be a hero.

Clark got to be the hero.

Lex found his niche with Clark. A purple spandex suit. A purple mask over blue eyes. Purple leather boots, thigh high, zippers on the inner sides. Purple calf-skin gloves, supple, good for teasing.

Once he had his suit, he showed Clark his powers. Able to seduce tall Kryptonians with a single look. Orgasms more powerful than a supernova. Refractory faster than his speeding Ferrari.

"It's The Purple Penetrator!" Lex proclaimed.

"That name is trademarked already. It's a sex toy."

"I'll buy the rights. And then, victory!"

[02 Apr 2008|11:24am]

Lex kept remembering things – things that he didn't have time to deal with. He had a company to run, people to intimidate, secrets to ferret out.

But all he could think of was talking with Clark, laughing with Clark, staring at Clark for long heated moments that seemed to last forever. Clark staring back before dropping his eyes and blushing.

Sighing, Lex pushed away from his computer and stood.

"I need to go see someone," Lex told his assistant.

"I'll notify security."

"Security's not necessary. Have a car brought around. The red Ferrari."

That Ferrari always had been Clark's favorite.

Awaken [02 Apr 2008|01:07pm]

A dream of miles of sunflowers slowly fades as Lex opens his eyes. He's alone in the quiet room, in the cold bed. The drapes are drawn against the morning sun. He rubs his eyes and sighs.

"Hey, ready for breakfast?" Clark elbows the door shut behind him, brings coffee and chain store donuts.

"I had that dream again," Lex murmurs as Clark kisses him.

"Oh yeah? The one with all the sunflowers? I'm telling you, it means something."

Lex smiles. It means something, yes. In his dreams, the flowers are gold and green and the sun is always shining….

It's Not Easy Being Naked [24 Oct 2007|06:00pm]

It was never a good thing when laughter could be heard from the other side of their desks, especially when it came moments after emailing his latest article for review. Until Perry gave the green flag, everything Clark turned in had to be approved by Lois Lane.

Internships sucked.

The look she gave him over the monitor cinched it. Something about his article was funny, and not in a good way. Clark was confused, it wasn’t like he’d included pictures.

“Smallville,” she chortled, “this is the only reason I keep you around. You amuse me. This article, The Streaks of Metropolis? You were supposed to write about the streets of Metropolis…”

Wed100: Big Brother [17 Oct 2007|04:52pm]

"Pour this in the bowl, Kara."

"Ew! It came out of those animals! It came out of their *bodies*!"

"It's okay, it's supposed to—here, break this and put it in the bowl—gently! Squirting it on the ceiling is not gently!"

"How can you *not* smash them and again—out of an animal's bottom. Icky."

She sniffed, stirred as he directed, lifted the spoon and skeptically watched dark, mud thick liquid plop from it.

Clark smiled. "I promise, you'll like it."

She frowned. "Even the name is stupid. Brownies. Why not Wetty, or Sticky?"

Clark hid a smile.

Wednesday 100 Challenge: Sweet [28 Sep 2007|02:20am]

Clark was toasting marshmallows on the barbeque pit when Lex walked up. He grinned, shrugged. "I was bored."

"So you're setting cotton balls on fire, Clark?"

"Come on! You seriously never had a roasted marshmallow?" Clark grinned in disbelief as Lex shook his head. "Then you're in for a treat."

Lex looked doubtfully at the blackened lump spewing smoke on the twig Clark held. Clark blew on it, and held it out to Lex. "Taste."

Instead of holding out his hand, as Clark expected, Lex closed his eyes, opened his mouth.

The marshmallow got stepped on, but neither one noticed.

Wednesday 100 Challenge: Smoke.. [27 Sep 2007|02:58pm]

"Cold Turkey"

“You smoke?”

The look Clark gave made Lex feel like he’d been caught flashing old ladies.

Lex exhaled a stream of smoke. “An old friend visited…I only do this when I’m with him. It’s a filthy habit, Clark. I don’t advise----“

Clark chuckled. “No need for a PSA. I’m just surprised.”

Although they’d only known each other for a brief while, the thought of disappointing Clark shook Lex.

“That was my last.”

Clark made a show of examining the pack. “Good. I want you around for a long time.”

Seeing Clark’s bashful smile was all the motivation Lex needed.

Smoke 'em out! [25 Sep 2007|11:39pm]

This week's challenge is smoke - take from it what you will.

Here's some possible inspiration:

"Smoke 'em if you got 'em."

"Where there's smoke, there's fire."

"It's all smoke and mirrors."

Whatever your interpretation, literal or symbolic, your drabble must contain the word "smoke."
